A Victory for Accountability.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Police Board President Chris Goodson will resign at the end of this month. This is a victory for St. Louisans who care about accountability for the Police Department. Goodson strongly supported disgraced Chief Mokwa and consistently opposed Chief Isom's initiatives.

Irene called for Governor Nixon to accept Goodson's resignation on Nixon's inauguration day; it appears that the Governor is listening.

Only one member of the Police Board is elected, however, and that member is Francis Slay. Vote Irene J. Smith on March 3, 2009 in the Democratic Primary to ensure accountability and transparency for the Police Department.
